Overview

Although artificial intelligence may seem like it is suddenly permeating every aspect of our daily lives, AI has actually been a part of Excel for over a decade. In this presentation, author and Excel expert David Ringstrom, CPA, will walk you through various AI-powered features in Excel, including Flash Fill, Analyze Data, Power Query's Column From Example, and tools for extracting data from pictures and PDF documents, among others. Of course, no discussion of AI would be complete without exploring ChatGPT, so David will also demonstrate how to write and deconstruct formulas, as well as automate repetitive tasks, even with minimal knowledge of Excel's Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language.

David is the author of Microsoft Excel 365 for Dummies and Exploring Microsoft Excel’s Hidden Treasures and has written or co-authored six other books. He demonstrates every technique at least twice: first, on a PowerPoint slide with numbered steps, and second, in Excel for Microsoft 365. Throughout the presentation and in his detailed handouts, he highlights any differences in Excel 2021, 2019, or 2016. The handouts also include an Excel workbook containing most of the examples used in his demonstrations.

Excel for Microsoft 365 is a subscription-based product that receives periodic feature updates, while perpetually licensed versions—identified by their year numbers—do not receive feature updates.
